Niin metsä vastaa, kuin sinne huudetaan.
The forest answers in the same way one shouts at it.
The forest is a sacred place for Finns and plays an essential role in Finnish mythology. This saying, which is similar to “you reap what you sow” or "what goes around comes around," shows how the relationship with the forest is intertwined into simple life lessons. Every Finn has an individual connection to nature which is why more than 80% of Finnish people say the forest is important to them. It's also why two-thirds of all Finns visit the forest once per week for one reason or another.
